APM TERMINALS MOBILE
APM Terminals – Mobile opened in September 2008 as the Port of Mobile's newest, state-of-the-art marine terminal. The Alabama State Port Authority and APM Terminals jointly invested $350M in two phases at the container terminal. Currently, the terminal is served by 2000 ft. of berth with 45 ft. of water depth, and two post-Panamax and two super post-Panamax ship-to-shore gantry cranes. The Port Authority invested an additional $50 million in an intermodal container transfer facility. This near dock container rail facility opened in 2016 and is currently providing service to Jackson, MS, Memphis, TN northward via the Canadian National. Currently, a $50 million, Phase 3 expansion is underway that will add 20 acres of operating yard and extend the dock approximately 400 ft. to accommodate simultaneously two post-Panamax vessels. Phase 3, when completed in 2020, will deliver 650,000 TEU in annual throughput capacity. Additional land and infrastructure can be delivered in phases to bring annual throughput capacity to 1.8 million TEU
APM Terminals Mobile is operated and managed by APM Terminals, an independent division within the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. APM Terminals Mobile provides containerized cargo shippers with access to global networks covering all possible trade routes to and from the Port of Mobile.
